Starting from April, the apple orchards in the beautiful Lana valley turn pink and white, filling the air with a pleasant and delicate fragrance.
This time of year has always been celebrated as an important event called the “Blossom Festival”, which in recent editions has taken the name “Lana in Bloom”, also incorporating the wild herbs fair now known as “Wild Herbs, Medicinal Plants and Wellness”.
Appointments with wild herbs, which thrive in this area thanks to the favorable climate, usually continue throughout the summer, but it is in spring that the first celebrations begin. In South Tyrol, the collection of herbs, berries, flowers and roots is an activity passed down from generation to generation and is still widely practiced today. These natural products are used daily in cooking, to prepare medicinal infusions, tinctures or ointments.
In addition to the blooming of wild herbs, spring in South Tyrol offers the last days on the snow, walks and picnics in the area of the wonderful Lake Caldaro, or visits to the Gardens of Castel Trauttmansdorff in full bloom.
In this tourist area, it is also possible to take numerous bike rides thanks to the beautiful cycling routes dedicated to two wheels and more. The views you will admire will leave you speechless. What better way to stretch your legs after the winter hibernation?
For the most curious, there are also many villages with picturesque views, impassable alleys, wooden balconies, cobblestones and stone houses. Places to visit with the camera always at hand. An experience to enjoy with all your senses!
All this without forgetting the opportunity to taste the delicacies of the local gastronomic tradition, in one of the many restaurants available to the most discerning food lovers.
Local specialties such as canederli, barley soup and green spatzli, as well as wines like sauvignon, chardonnay, pinot bianco and gewürztraminer, will certainly not leave you indifferent and will add that extra touch most capable of making your holiday truly unforgettable.
