The starting point for the snowshoe hike on Monte San Vigilio is easily reached in just a few minutes via the cable car, which is open regularly and will take you up to an altitude of 1,500 meters.
When you get on the cable car, remember that you’ve boarded the second oldest cable car in the world!
The easy hike from the mountain station to the Bagni dell’Orso mountain hut is particularly popular. Following path 12 uphill to the marked crossroads, you can turn right following signpost no. 7 which, in about an hour and a half’s walk, leads to the mountain lake “Schwarze Lacke”.
From Monte San Vigilio you can admire the wonderful natural landscapes, covered in snow this season, and, a short distance away, you can visit places with refuges offering typical regional dishes. After your snowshoe hike amidst breathtaking nature, we recommend savoring the delicacies of South Tyrolean cuisine, made with fresh produce and genuine, exquisite wines.
Between one snowshoe hike and another, you can also reach the famous Church of San Vigilio, located in a place pervaded by a sense of relaxation that will leave you speechless. This small mountain sanctuary is easily reached by following path no. 9.
